Our first Christmas season at The Garden Faire is quickly coming to a close. It seemed to go by very quickly, and if the truth be told I didn't know what to expect this season. I just know our one goal was to transform The Garden Faire into a Christmas wonderland and create an experience for every customer that walked through our doors. It took a long time to find the right Christmas tree grower, and we found that this year. Dealing with a family run tree farm ensured us we would have the freshest, highest quality trees around. I can't count the number of times I heard how beautiful the trees are, and how fresh they were.
As families started coming to pick out their tree I was privliged to witness them beginning a family tradition right before my eyes. It was very reassuring that the Christmas Spirit is alive and well. Kids would run through and look wide eyed at the trees and pick their favorite one. As I would prepare their tree and I made the fresh cut I would save it for them. Telling them if they counted the rings they would be able to tell how old the tree was. Then I would drill a hole in it and let them take it home and make an ornament out of it. The look on their faces was truly pricless!
What was very inspirational this season for me this year as a business man was the response of people to local business. It these rough times I was amazed at how strongly people felt about shopping local and guarding "Main Street", and what it means to the community.
Also who could forget the Oswego Christmas Walk? Back in July we made a commitment to the Village to host Santa for the eveninig, and after months of planning the big day had arrived. It must have been a record night for the walk. Main Street was packed from end to end, and Santa was a huge hit for the evening. The weather was perfect, the night was clear and the mood was highly festive.
As the Holiday season is now upon us and almost all the decorations are up I would just like to wish each and everyone of you a very very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year :)

So I begin this blog with several things in mind. First, what exactly is a blog, and does a gardener really belong on Blogger?
As I sit here and reflect on those two questions I find them easier to answer; "Yes, I can be a relative Blogger". That is once I figure out exactly what blogging is. So here goes and I hope you enjoy. :)
